Detectives have arrested a suspected burglar in Nakuru County following an intelligence-led operation that led to the recovery of assorted property believed to have been stolen during a series of house break-ins in Tabuga and its environs.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers from Githioro Police Station raided the home of 27-year-old Calvin Okoli Ndimu in Free Area, Nakuru, where they recovered items suspected to be linked to burglaries reported over the past two months.

“A suspected burglar believed to be behind a string of house break-ins in Tabuga and its environs, Nakuru County, has been arrested in an intelligence-led operation that unearthed a haul of suspected stolen property and ammunition,”statement read.

The recovered items included two 43-inch television screens, two TV stands, three subwoofers, assorted clothing, bedding and footwear. Police also found a pair of Kenya Defence Forces jungle trousers, a homemade toy gun, one live round and blank ammunition of calibre 7.62Γ—51mm.

The DCI said most of the recovered property had already been positively identified by its rightful owners, describing the recovery as a breakthrough in investigations into the reported break-ins.

Investigators are continuing to establish the full extent of the suspect’s alleged criminal activities and whether he may be connected to other burglary cases in the area.

The suspect remains in custody as police process the case ahead of his expected arraignment in court.
