Kenyan YouTuber and influencer Murugi Munyi has responded to the public’s reaction after a viral video showcased her monthly self-care routine, which some viewers found shocking due to the high cost involved.
The video, which featured Murugi undergoing a range of beauty treatments—including a hair treatment, braiding, nail care, lash extensions, a pedicure, a facial, and a laser treatment—had a total cost of over KSh 30,000. Many online users expressed surprise, pointing out that the amount was equivalent to their monthly salaries.
Speaking in a candid interview on Citizen TV, Murugi shared her thoughts on the viral reaction, finding amusement in the online comments. She explained that the KSh 30,000 she spent on the treatments was actually on the lower end of what she typically spends on her self-care.
“When I posted the video, I actually thought, ‘Wow, what a cheap month!’ There are months when I spend up to KSh 70,000 or even KSh 80,000 depending on the services I get,” Murugi revealed.
The influencer, who is known for her candidness, emphasized that she is unfazed by public opinions. She made it clear that she refuses to let negativity or judgment influence her choices.
“There is nothing you can do to please everyone. The price of success is being willing to be shamed. For me, fear and shame do not exist. I am living my truth, and some people like it while others don’t,” she added confidently.
Murugi’s message was clear: she is unapologetically living her life the way she chooses, and while not everyone may agree with her, she will not be deterred by others’ opinions.
