The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has reinstated Mwatate United to the National Super League (NSL) after they won an appeal at the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) challenging the previous merger between the club and the Dimba Patriots.
The tribunal earlier this year nullified the merger between Dimba Patriots and Mwatate United due to irregularities in the takeover process, ordering the latter’s return to the second-tier league.
Now Dimba Patriots, who jointly lead the NSL standings alongside 3K on ten points, have lost their status and will be expunged from the second-tier league.
“FKF acknowledges the ruling in case SDTSC No. E045 OF 2023, which confirms the loss of Dimba Patriots’ status in the FKF National Super League,” stated FKF’s acting CEO, Patrick Korir.
Adding “Mwatate United, having successfully appealed, will now take Dimba Patriots’ spot.”
Mwatate United FC officials.
Furthermore, FKF announced that all results involving Dimba Patriots will be expunged from the league standings.
Dimba Patriots were set to travel to Mombasa to face Mombasa United before this ruling.
Mwatate United plans to register new players and will conduct trials in the region to build a competitive squad for the NSL.
Now the FKF leagues and competitions department will readjust NSL fixtures to accommodate Mwatate United FC immediately.
