Interior Cabinet Secretary and CJPS Kipchumba Murkomen have said the government will continue supporting sports in disciplined services after the victory of APS Bomet FC by a goal to nil against KCB FC in a league match at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium.
Murkomen, who also serves as patron of APS Bomet FC, attended the match alongside Erick Mutai and Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli.
Speaking after the match in Kericho, Murkomen highlighted the critical role sports play within disciplined services, noting that they contribute significantly to talent development, health and wellness, and strengthening community relations.
“The exploits of officers across all sports disciplines are longstanding and storied. I am proud to see this team’s growth and confidence in the top flight, exemplified by their current four-game winning streak,” he said. “Today, the boys honored our presence in the stands with a 1-0 win.”
The Cabinet Secretary expressed optimism about the team’s performance as the season approaches its final stretch, pledging continued support to ensure APS Bomet FC maintains its top-flight status and avoids relegation.
“As the season enters the home stretch, I will give the team all the support they need to finish strong,” he added.
Also present at the match were APS Director of Sports and Chaplaincy Ramadhan Omar, Kericho County Commissioner William Gichure, the club’s Board Chairman Fred Akama, and several Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
The win adds momentum to APS Bomet FC’s campaign, boosting their chances of securing a strong finish in the league while underscoring the growing competitiveness of teams affiliated with Kenya’s disciplined services.
