Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has proudly introduced his baby boy to the public. The child, now about four months old, has captured attention with his light complexion and Luhya-like features—especially his nose. Salasya, clearly overjoyed, said he didn’t need a DNA test to confirm the child is his. “He looks just like me,” he said with pride.

The MP shared that he met the child’s mother during the Gen Z protests and has since embraced his role as a father. He called on the mother to bring the child home so that his head can be shaved—a tradition in Luhya culture that welcomes a child into the community and family.

Salasya’s announcement sparked reactions online, with many fans congratulating him and agreeing the baby really does resemble him. Some teased him about the traditional hair shaving ceremony, saying it’s time to follow through. A few others used the moment to reflect on how the MP manages to juggle public service and personal responsibilities.

He also opened up about how becoming a father has changed him. Salasya noted that since he announced his plans to run for president in 2027, he’s had to tone down his usual playful social media posts. He said his priorities have shifted and that he’s now focused on becoming more mature and responsible—not just as a leader, but also as a parent.
