The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League has received a major financial boost following Tuesday’s announcement that the total prize money for the 2025/26 season has been increased to Ksh 20 million.

Under the new structure, the league champions will take home Ksh 15 million, runners-up will receive Ksh 3 million, while the third-placed team will pocket Ksh 2 million.

Speaking during the official launch of the new season in Nairobi, FKF President Hussein Mohammed hailed the move as a significant step in elevating the league’s competitiveness and rewarding excellence on the pitch.

“This initiative will motivate players and clubs to give their all. It’s also a clear sign that investment in Kenyan football is starting to gain momentum,” said Hussein.

With the increased prize pool, the 2025/26 season, set to kick off on Friday, is expected to deliver heightened competition, as clubs vie not just for the title but also for the substantial financial rewards now on offer.
