Former Agriculture and Livestock Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, the DCP Party’s National Organizing Secretary on Thursday accused the government of orchestrating what he terms as “state-sponsored militia” to incite violence during the Saba Saba demonstrations, and then scapegoating opposition leaders for the unrest.
Speaking during a press briefing held at DCP Party headquarters in Lovington in Nairobi, Linturi pointed to a June 6 video of Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri, at a Methodist church function in Ruiri, Buuri Constituency.
Linturi accused the MP for sensational, inflammatory and inciteful remarks on destruction of property and particularly, invasion of a supermarket in Meru to be done on 7th July 2027.
Linturi said that Magunas supermarket was looted and torched as police watched and repulsed those who wanted to put out fire. “The supermarket is about 1 KM away from the Police Station. Up to date, Rindikiri has not been summoned to record a statement or arrested to shed more light on the matter.” he commented
He further denounce Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood for carelessly named DCP Party members as the planners of the demos and destruction of property in Meru. “We have been telling you of a state-premeditated chaospsychology to implicate the leaders allied to the DCP and opposition.”
The former CS said that Saba Saba protests was a well-choreographed scheme with evidence from the statement made by government-allied members of parliament to procure the Statesponsored Militia and later implicate allied of Gachagua in their scheme.
Linturi called out the government to exercise responsibility and great care. “The rule of law should not be selective. The people of Kenya are not blind nor are they fools. We shall not be cowed in the cause.” he added
