Mama Ida Odinga, the widow of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, has urged Kenyans to honour her husband’s memory by embracing peace and unity during the mourning period.

Speaking at Nyayo National Stadium during the State Funeral on Friday, Mama Ida said her late husband always stood for harmony and reconciliation, both in the nation and within families.

“One thing I know that Raila stood for, and kept on repeating, is that we need peace in our nation and in our homes,” she said, her voice heavy with emotion.

She appealed to mourners and Kenyans across the country to remain calm and avoid actions that could disrupt the peace her husband fought so hard to preserve.

“For that reason, I appeal that we mourn Raila in peace. I know you’re all concerned, but let’s keep the peace not only here but across the rest of the country,” she added.
