Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has cautioned Deputy President Kithure Kindiki against blindly trusting President William Ruto, warning that he is being used for political convenience.
Speaking in Rwarera, Meru County, during a church service attended by allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), Linturi claimed that Ruto has a history of exploiting Mt Kenya leaders for votes and later discarding them.
Linturi pointed to his own dismissal, the sacking of former Public Service CS Justin Muturi, and the impeachment of Gachagua as signs of betrayal.
He urged Kindiki to “read the signs” and join the Mt Kenya region’s push to form an alternative government ahead of the 2027 polls.
DCP deputy party leader Cleophas Malala echoed Linturi’s sentiments, arguing that Kindiki has been sidelined from key roles and reduced to attending fundraising events.
