Tanzanian singer Lava Lava has officially stepped away from the music label that helped shape his career. After years under the spotlight as part of Diamond Platnumz’s Wasafi family, the artist is now taking a bold step toward independence.

The news of his departure came to light through fellow musician Baba Levo, who praised Lava Lava for choosing to pave his own way. According to him, the move allows room for younger artists at the label to grow and be nurtured.

Lava Lava, known for his smooth vocals and emotional love songs, first gained attention after being signed to the label several years ago. He became a fan favourite through a number of popular tracks and collaborations that showcased his talent in the Bongo Flava genre.

While rumours about his possible exit had circulated in the past, the singer had always shown loyalty to his team. However, his recent moves suggest a shift in focus — from being just an artist to becoming a mentor and a leader in the music space.

He has previously hinted at his desire to create space for new talent and build something of his own. With his experience, a loyal fan base, and a strong artistic identity, many believe he is ready to thrive outside the Wasafi umbrella.

Though no official statements have been released from either party, Lava Lava’s next steps are being closely watched by fans and industry players alike. His journey into solo independence marks the beginning of a fresh chapter, one that may see him grow not just as an artist, but as a visionary in East African music.
