Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has condemned the use of the phrase “kufa dereva, kufa makanga” in political rhetoric, calling it a reckless and dangerous sentiment that could incite nationwide turmoil.
Speaking during a parliamentary session on Gachagua’s impeachment debate, Amollo expressed concern over the potential consequences of such divisive language.
“If you say kufa dereva, kufa makanga (driver and conductor perish together), you are essentially advocating for chaos and disaster, where all Kenyans could suffer in the fallout,” warned Amollo. “This is a reckless act, and we must be responsible in how we address the nation.” he said.
Amollo’s remarks come amid ongoing political tensions and debates in the National Assembly.
He urged leaders to be more mindful of their words, as they carry the power to either incite conflict or promote peace.
DP Gachagua is expected to defend himself in the afternoon.
