The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Holdings Ltd has appointed Eng. Francis Miano as its Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, effective Friday, January 16, 2026.

In a statement, the KTDA Holdings Board said Eng. Miano takes over the role following the exit of Wilson Muthaura, who has proceeded on terminal leave, marking a transition at the helm of the agency that oversees Kenya’s smallholder tea sector.

Eng. Miano is a registered professional engineer and a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.

He brings more than three decades of executive experience to the position and currently heads the Group Technical Services Division at KTDA, where he has been involved in overseeing key technical and operational functions across the organisation.

The Board said his long service and deep understanding of KTDA’s operations place him in a strong position to provide steady leadership during the transition period.

“His extensive experience and institutional knowledge make him well suited to steer the agency at this time,” the Board noted.

At the same time, the Board paid tribute to the outgoing chief executive, acknowledging his contribution to the organisation.

“The Board expresses its sincere appreciation to Muthaura for his dedicated service to the organisation and wishes him well in his future endeavours,” said KTDA Holdings Chairman Chege Kirundi.

KTDA Holdings plays a central role in Kenya’s tea industry, managing the affairs of millions of smallholder farmers and overseeing tea processing, marketing, and related services nationwide.

The leadership change comes at a time when the agency continues to navigate sector reforms and evolving market dynamics in one of Kenya’s most important export industries.
