The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released results for six teacher education examination programmes and directed candidates to collect them from their respective colleges.
In a notice issued on Thursday, October 15, the council said the results had been sent to colleges for candidates who sat the examinations.
“The candidates who sat these assessments and examinations are advised to obtain the results from their colleges,” KNEC stated.
However, some candidates will have to wait longer after the council withheld results for colleges that have outstanding assessment and examination fees.
KNEC said the affected institutions had been notified and asked to clear the arrears before their results could be released.
“Results for colleges with outstanding assessment and examination fee balances have been withheld pending settlement of the arrears,” the council said.
The results cover three diploma programmes for the 2023 cohort and three other teacher education qualifications for the 2025 cohort.
The examinations released include the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education (DSTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE).
Also included are the Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Diploma in Special Needs Education (DSNE) Parts I and II, and the Teacher Certificate in Adult Education (TCAE).
Candidates are expected to contact their colleges to obtain their results and confirm whether their institutions have any outstanding fees affecting the release.
The announcement comes as the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) pursues proposed changes to teacher training entry requirements.
In reforms announced in May, the commission proposed lowering the minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade for diploma teacher training courses from C+ to C plain.
The proposals also included a C- entry grade for persons with disabilities in certain courses and recognition of single teaching subjects, including learning areas introduced under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
