The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has quietly activated its online results portal, signalling that the release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results is drawing closer.

A check on the KNEC website shows that the KCSE results checker is already up and running, although candidates cannot access their results just yet. A notice on the portal clarifies that the system will only allow result checks once the council officially announces the release.

“2025 KCSE Provisional Results: Checking of KCSE Examination Provisional Results will be available after official release,” the message reads.

The early activation is a standard preparatory step by KNEC, meant to test the system and ensure it can handle the heavy traffic expected when thousands of candidates, parents and teachers log in at the same time. In past years, similar early testing has helped reduce delays and technical breakdowns on results day.

Once the results are officially released, candidates will be required to key in their index numbers and the examination year on the portal to access their provisional results.

The development comes amid growing anticipation and online speculation over the KCSE results release date. Just days ago, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba dismissed viral claims circulating on social media that the results had already been announced.

In a statement issued on Saturday, January 3, Ogamba rubbished reports alleging that the results were out and that Kapsabet Boys High School had emerged as the top school nationally.

“Treat such fake and misleading news with the contempt it deserves,” the CS said, urging the public to rely only on official communication from the ministry and KNEC.

However, Ogamba has previously assured candidates and parents that the wait will not be long. Speaking a week earlier during the Omogusii Cultural Festival at Kenyoro School Groups in North Mugirango, he said the results would be released within two weeks.

“The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks. Traditionally, KCSE results are announced in January, and we are keeping to that tradition,” he said.

The 2025 KCSE examinations concluded on November 21 after nearly five weeks of papers, which began on October 21.

As anxiety and excitement continue to build across the country, KNEC’s move to activate the results portal is being seen as a clear sign that the long wait for KCSE candidates and their families is almost over.
