The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested and charged a Kisumu County Revenue Officer over allegations of bribery.

Francis Muga Odhiambo who is the Revenue Officer in charge of Kisumu Bus Park was arrested yesterday for soliciting and receiving a bribe of Ksh10, 000.

He was arraigned before the Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court but he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Odhiambo was released on a cash bail of Ksh20,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh50,000.

The charges follow investigations conducted by the Commission, which established that Odhiambo allegedly solicited a bribe of Kes18,500 from a businessman operating a matatu between Kisumu and Kisii.

The officer is accused of threatening to pursue fabricated charges against the complainant unless the bribe was paid.

The accused was later arrested upon receiving Kes10,000 as part payment.

The matter is scheduled for hearing on February 25th at the Kisumu law court.
