Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is currently in Gaborone, Botswana, representing President William Ruto at the swearing-in ceremony of the country’s newly elected 6th president, Duma Boko.
This marks Kindiki’s first official trip abroad as Kenya’s second-in-command, and he is accompanied by a diverse delegation of seven elected leaders from across the political spectrum.
What stands out about this delegation is the broad political and regional representation, signalling a shift from previous official visits that typically included only members of the ruling party.

This time, Kindiki’s team includes Senators Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo) and Eddy Oketch (Migori), along with five Members of the National Assembly: Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), John Njuguna Kawanjiku (Kiambaa), Victor Koech (Chepalungu), and Elisha Odhiambo (Gem).
The composition of the delegation exemplifies President Ruto’s commitment to a more inclusive government, drawing leaders from different political affiliations and regions across Kenya.
