Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed reports that he lectured Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku during a meeting with over 5,000 elders from Embu.
During the event, Kindiki appeared to call out Ruku for calling on the government to tarmac roads in the region, saying the CS now holds an influential position and should channel his requests through proper channels.
“You are now part of the Cabinet. You should not be inciting the public with complaints. Instead, you should be providing solutions within the Cabinet, which is the top decision-making organ of government," said Kindiki. However, taking to social media, the former CS explained that his remarks were not directed at Ruku but at a former Cabinet Secretary from the same area.
"Seen a desperate, mischievous and utterly malicious twist insinuating that I lectured and disrespected CS Geoffrey Ruku, my friend for years. Falsehood is cheap. My remark being discussed referred to a former Cabinet Secretary from the same area and other ex-leaders who manifested similar conduct, to affirm that governments worldwide operate on the principle of collective responsibility," explained Kindiki. The deputy president insisted that undermining a government that you are a senior part of is illegal and anti-people, saying putting the government in check is the work of the opposition.
