Kenyan swimmer Haniel Kudwoli has clinched a bronze medal at Oran 2026 Africa Aquatic Championship, clocking 28.62 seconds in the 50m breaststroke setting a new national record.
Competing at Africa’s finest swimmers at the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex in Oran, Algeria, Kudwoli performed a powerful sprint that secured him third place. He surpassed the previous record of 29.32 seconds, making him the fastest Kenyan ever.
The medal was Kenya’s second podium finish at the championships, following Sara Mose’s bronze on opening of the Kenyan aquatics.
Kudwoli was among the 12 members selected for Oran 2026, alongside swimmers Sara Mose, Isabelle Mwangi, Jeremy Mutwii and Neo Olengo. His win has positioned him as a pioneer in the sport of swimming.
The Oran championships brought together 400 Africa’s swimmers, with Kenya’s team selected under strict FINA points.
Kudwoli and Sara’s win demonstrates Kenya can meet continental standards and compete at the elite levels in aquatics.
