PS Elijah Mwangi And Skating Champion Kelvin Kiarie

Kenyan skating champion Kelvin Kiarie, has received official government following his outstanding performance at the Africa Skates Games held in Egypt. Kiarie met Principal Secretary for Sports, Elijah Mwangi, who congratulated him at the Talanta Plaza office, Nairobi. PS Mwangi emphasized that athletes in emerging sports must register with the Sports Registrar.

“It is important for young sportsmen and women to register with federations as well as the Sports Register to have them recognized as distinct athletes in specific disciplines…the federations are wrangling or non-compliant,” said Mwangi.

In all his wins, Kiarie was awarded by the government through the National Awarding Scheme, recognizing his performance at the competition in Benin, where he bagging gold and silver medal. He also won a gold medal in Egypt at the Africa Skate Games.

He has qualified for the World Skate Games in Paraguay in October, 2026.He plans to undergo a two week training camp before heading to Paraguay, South America. PS Mwangi assured him the government will facilitate him for the World Games.

Mwangi assured Kiarie that President Ruto remains committed to supporting all athletes, recognizing their achievements and ensured to safeguard as they represent Kenya in global sporting.
