President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending hunger in Kenya, saying the country is on course to achieving food security through large-scale agricultural projects.
In a statement on Friday, the President cited the transformative Galana-Kulalu Food Security Project as one of the key initiatives aimed at increasing food production and reducing dependency on imports.
“We are on course to making Kenya food secure. The transformative Galana-Kulalu Food Security Project is one of our many initiatives that will scale up our production,” Ruto stated.
The Galana-Kulalu project, located in Tana River and Kilifi counties, is designed to irrigate thousands of acres of land for maize and other staple crops, addressing perennial food shortages in the country.
Kenya has faced repeated challenges of food scarcity, worsened by prolonged droughts and reliance on rain-fed agriculture.
