Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) pulled off a stunning upset on the opening day of the 2025/26 men’s volleyball league, toppling defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) 3–2 in a dramatic five-set thriller at the Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium last evening.
The law enforcers, regarded as underdogs coming into the clash, delivered one of the biggest shocks in recent league history.
GSU took the opening set 25–21, but KAPU roared back to claim the next two sets 25–22 and 25–21.
The defending champions fought hard to stay alive, edging the fourth set 26–24, but KAPU sealed a famous victory with a dominant 15–5 win in the decider.

It was a different story for the league’s traditional powerhouses, who began their campaigns in commanding fashion.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) brushed aside Trailblazers in straight sets of 25–21, 25–20, and 25–17, while Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) swept past Prisons Rift Valley 25–12, 25–15, and 28–26 to open their season on a high.
