President William Ruto is currently leading the race for the presidency should an election be held today, according to a new opinion poll released by research firm Infotrak.

The survey, published on Sunday, December 28, 2025, places the incumbent at the top with 28 per cent support, giving him a clear lead over his potential challengers ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The findings indicate that despite ongoing political and economic debates, President Ruto continues to command significant backing among voters across the country.

Ruto’s strong showing comes just weeks after he publicly declared that he has no serious challenger in the next election, arguing that the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga was the only politician capable of mounting a formidable challenge against him.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i emerged second in the poll with 13 per cent support, positioning him as one of the leading figures in the opposition space. Matiang’i, who previously ran for president under the Jubilee Party ticket, has recently indicated that he plans to rely on public fundraising as he prepares for a 2027 presidential bid.

He is also working closely with the United Opposition coalition in a bid to unseat President Ruto in the next election.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ranked third with 12 per cent. His showing comes shortly after he announced that the United Opposition would settle on a joint presidential candidate by the first quarter of 2026.

Speaking during an interview with Kameme TV on Friday, December 26, 2025, Kalonzo said the opposition was keen on presenting a united front to challenge the incumbent.

“I think that is what is going to unite us more. Before the end of the first quarter, we should have agreed on who our flagbearer is, because Kenyans want certainty and assurance that the next election will be free and fair,” Kalonzo said.
