Hasmukh Patel, the owner of Mombasa Cement Company, has passed away aged 58 after a short illness.

Confirming the demise, family spokesman Samir Bhalo said Patel, popularly known as Husuu breathed his last on Thursday, August 29, while receiving treatment at Premier Hospital in Mombasa.

Bhalo said the renowned industrialist and philanthropist had been complaining of stomach pains for the last two days, prompting him to seek medical attention.

The renowned businessman has left behind a widow and three children.

Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir said Patel will be remembered for his active participation in society affairs in Mombasa as well as his generous support for the underprivileged.

"We have learned with sadness of the passing of businessman Hasmukh “Hasuu” Patel of Mombasa Cement Limited in Mombasa. Patel will be remembered for his active participation in society affairs in Mombasa as well as his generous support for the underprivileged.
