Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has come out strongly in defense of President William Ruto, dismissing recent remarks by former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi that questioned the President’s leadership capacity.

Speaking during an interview on Nation FM, Mwaura criticized Muturi’s comments as unfair and ill-motivated, claiming they stemmed from personal frustration following his removal from Cabinet.

“For the former Cabinet Secretary to say that, I think it’s unfair. He is only saying this after he is no longer in government,” Mwaura said.

Mwaura described President Ruto as a focused leader who is keen on confronting Kenya’s economic and structural challenges head-on.

He noted that while some of the President’s decisions may not be popular in the short term, they are aimed at securing the country’s long-term stability.

“I have seen a President who is very keen on fixing the nation, deliberate on making serious decisions around the economy that may be unpopular, but which are going to serve the nation right in the long run,” he added.

Dismissing Muturi’s sentiments as mere opinion, Mwaura maintained that Kenya could not have a better leader at this time than William Ruto.

He praised the President’s ability to balance politics, governance, and development under immense pressure.

“There could never have been a better person who is able to juggle between politics, governance and leadership at this time other than President William Ruto,” he asserted.

Reflecting on his long-standing working relationship with the Head of State, Mwaura recalled their days in government dating back to 2006 when Ruto served as Minister for Agriculture.

He said Ruto has always been hands-on, especially in crafting and implementing policies and manifestos.

“I was part of the team that worked on the Kenya Kwanza manifesto. President Ruto was at the front and centre of it. We are implementing exactly what we promised, even with limited resources,” Mwaura explained.

His remarks come amid growing public debate over the performance of the Kenya Kwanza administration and criticism from a section of former government officials.
