The government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the implementation of the Digital Superhighway Programme following a high-level progress review meeting held at Harambee House.
The meeting brought together the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, UDA Party Head of Digital Communication Antonella (Truepastoralist), Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy Eng. John Tanui, former Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney, and representatives from implementing government agencies.
The review focused on the progress made in expanding the country’s digital infrastructure, connecting more public institutions to digital networks, and improving the delivery of government services through technology.
Officials assessed key milestones achieved so far, discussed implementation priorities, identified areas requiring greater attention, and agreed on practical measures to strengthen coordination among government agencies to ensure the programme remains on track.
The Digital Superhighway Programme is one of the flagship initiatives under the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). The initiative aims to modernize public service delivery by expanding broadband connectivity, digitizing government services, and increasing access to digital opportunities across the country.
Speaking during the review, government officials emphasized that the programme is critical in building a digitally connected, efficient, and accessible public service while creating new opportunities for innovation, investment, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
The government continues to position digital transformation as a key driver of economic growth, with the Digital Superhighway Programme expected to improve access to online government services, bridge the digital divide, and support Kenya’s transition into a competitive digital economy.
