Philanthropist Geoffrey Mosiria has once again stolen the hearts of Kenyans following his action to rescue another man who was living in poverty by the Nairobi road reserves.
The man, who resided in a hut opposite Railways Golf Club facing Green Park had not only been living on the streets but had also set up an illegal dumping site close by. His history was characterized by being approached by many well-wishers and pastors, all of whom made promises of assistance but never followed through on them. His cause was rather often utilized for raising donations.
“This time, I walked the talk,” Mosiria cried. He said he purchased the man new clothes, had him shower for the first time in years, and fed him. He also agreed to pay rent on a new residence for three months, arranged for the man to see a counselor, and even gave him a hair-makeover as part of reintroducing him to society.
In addition, Mosiria vowed to disinfect the environment where the man was residing, introducing him and the city to some measure of dignity. He assured that this was not a move for temporary relief, but to set the foundation for change to endure.
The emotional rescue has attracted social media debate, with the majority of Kenyans praising Mosiria for being firm in showing the true face of leadership and compassion. His action has been hailed as a motivating message that second chances and dignity can transform lives.
This comes just weeks after Mosiria’s own earlier efforts to help another man, often referred to as Mr. Tree Man, begin anew after years of hardship.
