Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that popular Mugithi singer and police officer Samidoh Muchoki was deliberately set up when he was reassigned to serve in Baringo County.
Speaking during a recent event, Gachagua questioned the logic behind deploying the artist to a hardship area, despite his enormous earnings from music.
“When Samidoh was reassigned to Baringo, he was being set up. His salary is 40,000 shillings as a police officer, yet he makes 400,000 every weekend. Why not just quit this job? I advised him against it and instead told him to stay abroad,” Gachagua revealed.
Samidoh, known for his energetic Mugithi performances, has been touring internationally and performing at sold-out shows, especially in the U.S., where he enjoys a growing fan base.
Gachagua’s comments may reignite debate about public servants engaging in side hustles, especially in the entertainment space.
