FKF Unveils Electoral Board to Oversee December Polls

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential polls are set to take place in mid-December this year.

New five-member electoral board which was formulated and approved at the FKF Special General Meeting in August was unveiled today afternoon to oversee the much-awaited polls.

The board will be chaired by Professor Hesbon Owilla and lawyer Merceline Sande will serve as the Secretary.

Others appointed include the president of Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) James Waindi, former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule, and Alfred Ng’ang’a.

During the unveiling ceremony, Chairman Owilla emphasized the significance of the election process for the future of Kenyan football.

“The elections will create the foundation for our beloved sport, one that fans, players, and stakeholders have entrusted us to safeguard. We want all football stakeholders to know that we are committed, as a team, to delivering an outcome that every stakeholder will be proud of.” Prof Owilla said.

In course of this week the board is expected to release a detailed roadmap for the elections outlining the procedures and timelines, ensuring transparency and clear communication with all involved parties.

The aspirants include Extreme Sports CEO Mohammed Hussein, former Kenyan Premier League CEO Jack Oguda, former Harambee Stars player Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino and Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ochola.

Current president Nick Mwendwa.

The incumbent president Nick Mwendwa is expected to run for another term, though he is yet to declare officially his candidature.
