Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has dismissed claims that she was attacked by goons while travelling to work.
The claims emerged after a video showing a woman being confronted by unknown individuals inside a vehicle went viral on social media.
In the video, a motorcycle is seen blocking the vehicle before a man begins hitting it.
The occupants are heard asking whether there is a nearby police station where they could seek help.
The man later smashes one of the vehicle’s windows before the driver manages to drive away.
The video was later shared online with claims that the woman inside the vehicle was Miano.
However, the CS has dismissed the claims as fake, saying she was safe and continuing with her duties as usual.
“Fake news and rumours spread like bush fire. Please, just IGNORE and have a fruitful week!” Miano said on Monday.
Miano later said she was “safe, fully functional, and working as usual”.
She also sent her thoughts and prayers to anyone who may have been affected by the incident captured in the video.
The identity of the woman in the video has not been independently established.
The video has continued to attract attention online, with Kenyans questioning the circumstances surrounding the attack and calling for investigations.
Miano’s response, however, makes it clear that she was not the woman involved in the incident.
The claims come at a time when cases of political violence and attacks involving suspected goons have sparked concern ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Miano has urged the public to ignore the reports linking her to the incident and continue with their activities.
