President William Ruto is currently on a development tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties.

During day one of the tour, on Monday, August 12, Ruto, in the company of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, governors Amos Nyaribo and Simba Arati, among other host politicians, launched various development projects.

First, the president launched the Nyang’eni Village Electrification Project in Nyaribari Chache, connecting 101 homes and 30,262 across Kisii County under the Last Mile Project.

This is in line with the head of state’s agenda of achieving 100% electricity connectivity by 2030.

The head of state also announced the establishment of a university in Nyamira County at Kiabonyoru.

This is the first university in Nyamira and seemingly will end the contest between the North Mugirango, West Mugirango, Kitutu Chache and Borabu constituencies.

The head of state announced that the government aims to upgrade facilities in 68 schools in Borabu, North Mugirango, West Mugirango and Kitutu Masaba constituencies in Nyamira County. This will increase student enrolment and boost learning.

Under the KSh 1.4 billion Kuwait-funded Development of Schools Infrastructure in Nyamira County Project, Ruto said the government will build 183 new classrooms, dormitories and dining halls in 47 secondary and 21 primary schools.

In that line, he laid the foundation stone for the Kiabonyoru Secondary School Dormitory in North Mugirango, Nyamira County.

Ruto also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Kenyerere DOK Primary and Junior School tuition block in Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira County.
