The Kenya Water Tower Agency (KWTA), established in 2012 under Legal Notice No. 27, has been dissolved following the recent cabinet resolution.
This significant move aligns with the cabinet’s rationalization of state corporations aimed at eliminating overlapping mandates and enhancing operational efficiency.
A statement shared by the ministry indicated that all KWTA staff will be redeployed to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry and its associated agencies.

“A carefully finalized placement list has ensured that 68 employees will join the Environment and Climate Change department, while 45 others are set to transition to the Forestry department,” the statement read.
In addition, the ministry stated that the redeployment process will consider various factors, including qualifications, rank, experience, age, duty station, and disability.

During the handover process, Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Festus Ng’eno (Environment and Climate Change) and Mr. Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry) jointly addressed the transitioning staff, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to good governance principles.

They underscored the critical role the redeployed staff would play in advancing Kenya’s environmental and forestry objectives
