The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a police officer attached to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) at the Isinya Weighbridge over an alleged KSh60,000 bribe.

Corporal Kennedy Monyo Waweru was arrested on Monday, October 5, 2026, after allegedly receiving the money from a complainant at the weighbridge.

According to the EACC, the officer had allegedly demanded the bribe to influence the charge facing the complainant and have them charged with the lesser offence of failing to stop instead of evading a weighbridge.

The complaint was filed with the anti-corruption agency on October 2, 2026, prompting investigations into the allegations.

EACC said its officers arrested Waweru after establishing that he had allegedly received the KSh60,000.

The officer was subsequently processed at Kilimani Police Station as investigations continue.

Waweru’s latest arrest has also brought renewed attention to his previous posting at Murang’a Police Station.

According to a Kenya News Agency (KNA) report, Waweru had previously served at the station before being transferred shortly after 2022 following complaints from members of the public over his conduct and work ethic.

The KNA report highlighted concerns raised about his conduct while serving in Murang’a, providing a background to his subsequent deployment away from the station.

His latest posting at the Isinya Weighbridge has now put him at the centre of another bribery investigation.

EACC has reiterated its commitment to fighting corruption and bribery, urging members of the public to report suspected cases.

The commission’s investigation into the allegations against Waweru is ongoing.
