Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested Japheth Ouko Mayore Isaboke, the Principal Prosecution Counsel in charge of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Kilgoris.
Isaboke was nabbed on allegations of soliciting a KSh 50,000 bribe from a businessman in exchange for fast-tracking a court case.
The two negotiated the said bribe downwards to KSh 40,000. However, the businessman refused to pay the bribe and instead reported the matter to the EACC.
Upon investigation, the commission’s officers arrested Isaboke while receiving KSh 20,000 as part of the bribe.
He was locked at the Kisii Police Station before being released on KSh 30,000 cash bail pending the finalisation of the investigation.
