Detectives from Embakasi Police Station have arrested two prime suspects linked to a daring godown heist that saw goods worth an estimated Sh17.6 million stolen in a break-in at Atlantic Business Park on April 20, 2025.
The burglary, which occurred during the Easter holiday weekend, targeted Go Downs No. 16 and No. 17 belonging to Aetlantiq Group Limited.
According to a police report filed at Mombasa Road Police Station, employees were shocked to find the premises ransacked upon returning to work.
Investigations revealed that the intruders, armed with crude weapons, gained entry by cutting through the iron sheet roof and accessed the accounts offices and storerooms.
Among the items stolen were 363 Hisense 43-inch TVs, 20 HB 20-inch TVs, 11 HS 218 soundbars, HP laptops, mobile phones, desktop computers, school bags, CCTV servers, and various spare parts.
Police say a security team that responded to the triggered alarm failed to report the incident and has since gone into hiding, raising suspicions of an inside job.
Following days of forensic tracking, detectives traced and arrested James Macharia Mwangi and Keriko Wanjama at Scorpion Den Hotel in Ruai. A search of the premises led to the recovery of hundreds of electronics, including:
- 269 units of Hisense 43-inch TVs
- 65 Hisense 55-inch A6 TVs
- 2 Hisense 65-inch Q6 TVs
- 8 Hisense 58-inch A6 TVs
- 7 Hisense 32-inch A4 TVs
- 4 Hisense 40-inch TVs
- 4 Hisense 50-inch TVs
- 11 HS 218 soundbars
- Aiwa SB 8320 and SB 2031 speakers
A white Mitsubishi FH truck (registration KAV 565Q) loaded with some of the stolen items was also recovered and is being held as an exhibit.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned as investigations continue. Detectives are also pursuing the missing security personnel and other individuals believed to be part of the criminal network.
