Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), following the launch of the Social Health Authority (SHA) Sponsorship Programme by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

The initiative will initially cushion 2.2 million vulnerable Kenyans by granting them access to free healthcare services. Duale said the Ministry of Health, working closely with county governments, is committed to ensuring the transformative programme reaches every deserving household.

“This step strengthens the foundations of Universal Health Coverage, one of the key pillars of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” Duale noted, adding that the government is determined to guarantee equitable and affordable healthcare for all.

The CS hailed the programme as a landmark achievement in the journey toward a more inclusive healthcare system that puts people at the centre of service delivery.
