Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have successfully closed down a drug trafficking network in Mombasa County. They’ve arrested three suspects and confiscated cannabis sativa worth about Sh6 million.
The Intelligence-led tracking led to the operation that was held at the Mtopanga area after the police received information about the trafficking of the house drugs.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives raided a two-bedroom house where they discovered three sacks containing cannabis sativa weighing a total of 200 kilograms. The narcotics are estimated to have a street value of Sh6 million.
During the raid, police officers managed to grab a Honda motorcycle, registration number KMGA 080F, a vehicle believed to have been used in the drug distribution activities.
The trio were named as Ruth Ayoo Ouko, Peter Juma Kamito, and Dennis Wandera Okuku. They were arrested and tajen to custody for processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
The recovered cannabis has been secured as investigations continue.
The DCI said that operation’s success is a testament to its ongoing efforts in fighting drug trafficking through intelligence, based operations nationwide.
The government has expressed the determination to break the drug trafficking chains and the illegal trade participants shall face justice.
