The search for former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has taken a new twist in the investigation into his disappearance. This comes after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said their detectives were blocked from accessing Tuju’s home in Karen.
In a press release on Monday, the DCI said they were unable to access the former CS’s home on Mwitu Drive in Karen. The agency now wants the family and anyone with information to cooperate in the investigation into Tuju’s disappearance.
The agency also said they have set aside a special team to investigate the disappearance. They also said their detectives are using different tactics to locate Tuju.
Tuju was reported missing at the Karen Police Station on Sunday when his family failed to get in touch with him. Tuju’s son said his father left home on Saturday to attend an interview but failed to come back.
The police later got in touch with the family when his car was spotted parked by the roadside on Miotoni Lane in Karen.
The DCI explained that a security guard spotted a car parked on the side of the road with hazard lights on, which led the authorities to respond. The police from Karen Police Station responded quickly, and crime scene experts later examined the vehicle before it was towed away.
This case has raised serious concerns among leaders, and some have asked the security agencies in the country to act quickly.
Oburu Odinga asked the government to act quickly and tell the public what might have happened to Tuju.
“I would like to urge the government to quickly investigate the matter and inform us on what might have happened to our son, Raphael Tuju. This is not good,” he said.
Tuju has been in the news in recent times due to a conflict surrounding his land in Karen. He has been complaining about pressure due to the possibility of his land being auctioned. He even wrote to the authorities, asking them to protect him.
As the police investigate, many are now awaiting new information in the case, as well as seeing if the police will get the cooperation they asked for.
