ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has urged residents of the Mt. Kenya region to tone down their hostility toward the government, warning that continued tension could hinder the implementation of key development projects in the area.
Kabogo spoke during interview with Citizen TV on Monday and emphasized the need for constructive engagement and dialogue between residents and government officials to ensure the region benefits from ongoing initiatives.
“Hostility and constant criticism may derail progress and slow down the implementation of critical projects meant to uplift the lives of our people,” Kabogo said. “We must focus on unity and working with the government to address the region’s priorities.”
The CS acknowledged that frustrations over certain policies, including tax-related initiatives, have fueled dissatisfaction in the region.
However, he appealed for patience, noting that the government is committed to fulfilling its development promises.
“The government has good intentions for Mt. Kenya and the entire country. Let us give it time to deliver, especially in areas like infrastructure, agriculture, and education,” Kabogo added.
Kabogo’s remarks come amid growing discontent in Mt. Kenya over issues such as the housing levy and increased taxation. The region, which played a pivotal role in electing President William Ruto, has seen rising concerns over unfulfilled campaign pledges and the cost of living.
