The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed new dates for the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Following a CAF Executive meeting in Rabat, Morocco, on January 27, it was announced that the tournament will now take place from August 2 to August 30.
The decision to shift the tournament from February to August was made to allow host countries—Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania—more time to prepare adequately.
The CHAN draw, held in Nairobi on January 15, placed Kenya in Group A, alongside two-time champions Morocco, DR Congo, Angola, and Zambia.
Co-host Tanzania is in Group B, where they will face Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic. Group C features co-host Uganda, alongside Niger, Guinea, and two teams still to qualify.
Defending champions Senegal, known as the Teranga Lions, are in Group C, where they will compete against Congo Brazzaville, Sudan, and Nigeria.
