Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine has called for the immediate withdrawal of military personnel from his home, alleging that security forces have surrounded and taken control of the property.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Wine claimed that armed security officers forcibly accessed his residence and have since blocked food and other essential supplies from reaching his family.
“We demand that the military vacate our home immediately,” Wine said, warning that the situation poses a serious risk to his family’s safety. He alleged that security officers cut the padlocks on his gates and replaced them with chains, effectively locking his family inside.
“My wife and people are not safe. They are starving after food was blocked from reaching them,” he added.
Wine described the actions as unlawful, accusing security agencies of targeting his family and violating their basic rights.
The development follows an incident last Friday when Wine said military and police forces raided his home in Magere overnight. He later confirmed that he had managed to flee, easing fears that he had been arrested or taken to an undisclosed location.
