Beyoncé has been named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard, the music charting platform announced on Tuesday, as part of an ongoing series.

The American music and entertainment magazine, founded in 1894, placed Beyoncé at the top of their editorial list, which was compiled based on her 25 years of influence, impact, and evolution in the music industry.

Billboard praised Beyoncé for being a performer and creator who has set the standard for pop stardom. Their analysis noted that she has “innovated, evolved, and excelled,” making her the benchmark against which all other pop stars of the past 25 years have been measured.

Beyoncé holds the record for the most Grammy wins by any artist, with an impressive 32 trophies. After receiving 11 more nominations for her 2024 album “Cowboy Carter,” she is expected to add more awards to her collection in January.

In addition to her Grammy achievements, Beyoncé has a deep history on Billboard’s charts. She has earned nine No. 1 songs and 24 top 10 hits on the Hot 100. Eight of her albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, starting with her 2003 debut solo album “Dangerously In Love.”

As a former member of Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé has charted 11 solo albums in Billboard’s top 10.

Taylor Swift ranks position two.

Since August, Billboard has been ranking the top 25 pop artists of the past 25 years, selecting those they believe have most defined pop stardom and exemplified “pop greatness” since the turn of the millennium.

Following Beyoncé, Taylor Swift was named No. 2, with Rihanna taking the third spot.

Adele, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Drake round out the top 10.

Rihanna took the third place.
