Musician Bahati was thrown into emotional confusion when an elderly woman appeared online, claiming to be his biological mother. The woman, speaking in a viral video, insisted that she is Bahati’s real mum and that she never died, alleging she was separated from her child because of poverty many years back.
But Bahati’s response was what truly sent shockwaves across social media. In a comment loaded with disbelief and heartbreak, the singer penned:
“But my mum died over 25 years ago, I personally attended the burial and saw her grave .This woman has confused me more. So what should I do???”
Those words alone were enough to fuel debates, memes, and wild theories all across Kenyan internet pages. Fans flooded the post urging Bahati to be calm, with many suggesting a DNA test as the only sure way of clearing up the issue once and for all. Others, however, adopted a lighter tone, joking that the saga already “looks like a new Bahati hit is loading.” One mischievous fan even commented, “Toa hio wimbo ianze kutrend!”
While some Kenyans sympathize with the musician and the emotional weight of such a revelation, others question the woman’s intentions, whether she is confused, genuinely seeking her lost child, or simply chasing attention.
For Bahati, who has always been candid about losing both parents at a tender age and being brought up in a children’s home, this turn of events cuts deep.
