The East African Business Council has appointed Ahmed Farah as its new Executive Director. The announcement was made on Monday by EABC Chair John Lual Akol Akol, who said Farah went through a robust and competitive recruitment process.
Akol said many competent applicants were scrambling for the job, but what gave Farah an edge above others was the interview carried out by the council’s executive board.
Farah is no stranger to regional conversation. He previously worked as the Country Director for TradeMark East Africa, which deals with issues concerning trade, regional integration, and engagement with the private sector.
He also boasts of extensive cooperation with various governments, development partners, and businesses across the East African region.
Reacting to the appointment, Akol expressed his confidence in Farah’s ability to help achieve the trade body’s mandate of enhancing trade and investment within the East African Community.
EABC brings together business associations from different parts of East Africa and provides the region’s private sector with representation in trade and economic issues.
