President William Ruto has launched the construction of Magwagwa Stadium in North Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira County, in a move aimed at boosting sports development and creating opportunities for young people.
The KSh1 billion facility will provide young people with a platform to nurture their sporting talents and develop their potential.

Speaking during his development tour of Nyamira County, Ruto said the government was constructing 33 modern sports facilities across the country, including the Raila Odinga Talanta Sports Stadium.

The President also announced an investment of KSh11 billion towards the construction of 180 kilometres of roads across Nyamira County.
At Makairo Market in West Mugirango Constituency, he launched the construction of the Bondeni-Magombo road, which is expected to improve transport and ease the movement of goods and agricultural produce.

On electricity connectivity, Ruto said the government was investing KSh500 million to connect 6,840 households to electricity in the county. This includes KSh100 million targeting 1,700 homes in West Mugirango, with 90 households set to benefit from the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project launched at Makairo Market.

On agriculture, Ruto pledged to ensure tea farmers receive fair and equal bonuses, adding that outdated factory machinery would be modernised to reduce production costs and improve farmers’ earnings.
