Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo has called for stronger social media regulations to protect children from potential online harm, following growing public concern surrounding the social media presence of Pastor Victor Kanyari’s daughter, Sky Victor.

Millie’s concerns come amid increased public attention surrounding Sky Victor, where she has been engaging with and receiving reactions from members of the public could negatively affect her well-being and development.

Speaking at the National Assembly, the legislator expressed her concern without mentioning Sky’s name, stating the young girl lost her mother and is increasingly active on social media, urging that the government should look into the matter and consider whether the child needs protection.

“There’s a young girl that I’m very, very concerned about, who lost her mother. She’s always on social media. And I think one of the things I’d be calling on the children department to actually look into her case,” Millie said.

She further questioned the nature of the conversations the girl was having online, warning that her continued exposure to public scrutiny was not in her best interests.

“This girl, the mother died, and she’s always on social media. The thing she’s talking about are not good for her,” she said.

Millie acknowledged the move would not be popular but argued that protecting children sometimes means making difficult decisions.

Her concern is to establish safer online spaces for children, as social media continues to influence how young people communicate and interact with the world.
