Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been sentenced to an additional 13 years in prison over the KSh588 million corruption and money-laundering case involving funds allegedly misappropriated from the Kiambu County Government during his tenure.

Chief Magistrate Harrison Barasa, sitting at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, on Monday, November 2, 2026, handed Waititu the sentence on three counts linked to the controversial procurement of a roads contract by the county government.

On Count 10, Waititu was sentenced to five years in prison or a fine of KSh10 million. On Count 11, he received four years’ imprisonment or a KSh6 million fine, while Count 12 attracted another four-year prison term or a KSh5 million fine.
The sentences amount to 13 years in prison, while the total fines imposed across the three counts stand at KSh21 million.

The court directed Waititu to pay the fines, with failure to do so attracting the alternative prison terms imposed on each count.

In a related ruling, the court also imposed separate penalties on another accused person. She was fined KSh12 million on Count 10, sentenced to two years in prison or a KSh2 million fine on Count 11, and fined a further KSh8 million on Count 12.

Her total fines across the three counts amount to KSh22 million.

The case revolves around allegations of corruption and money laundering involving KSh588 million in public funds linked to a roads contract awarded during Waititu’s administration in Kiambu County.
