The IEBC has summoned the former senator Hassan Omar to appear before its Elections’ Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee on October 21 2026, over remarks made at a public rally in Mombasa County.

In a press release dated October 14, the commission said the summons is in connection to the statement Omar purportedly made on September 11 2026, concerning voting by deceased.

The matter was brought to the commission’s attention and is being considered under the Electoral Code of Conduct, which is in the Second Schedule of the elections Act, 2011.

He is anticipated to respond to queries for the charges during the hearing to be held at the Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.

IEBC Chairman Erastus Edung Ethekon said that the committee would make its decision upon analysing evidence and submissions before them.

The commission further stressed that the hearings would be conducted in compliance with the right to fair administrative action and right to be heard, noting that all persons who would be appearing before the committee would be given fair opportunity to make their case.

The commission called for peaceful participation in politics, tolerance, and respect for rule of law and democratic governance, adding that further information would be released after the proceedings conclude.
