The government has released Sh30 million towards the construction of Karura Ka Nyungu Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Kabete Constituency, Kiambu County, as it moves to expand access to technical and vocational education.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who inspected the ongoing construction on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, said a further Sh40 million would be disbursed shortly to facilitate the completion of the institution.

The project is expected to provide young people in Kabete and neighbouring areas with access to technical skills and mid-level training aimed at improving employment opportunities and supporting Kenya’s industrialisation agenda.
Kindiki said the additional institution would help equip young people with practical skills needed in the labour market and contribute to the country’s ambition of attaining first-world economic status.
He maintained that the government was committed to investing in education infrastructure to create opportunities for young people and promote economic development across the country.
The Deputy President also announced plans to construct a student accommodation hostel with a capacity of 340 beds at the institution.
The hostel will cost Sh170 million and is expected to provide accommodation for students, particularly those travelling from distant areas to pursue technical courses at the college.
The investment in accommodation is intended to complement the construction of the training institution by improving access to technical education for learners who may face challenges securing housing near the facility.
Kindiki said the government would continue implementing development projects across the country, insisting that no region should be left behind in the distribution of public resources.
He also defended the administration’s development record, saying President William Ruto’s government was prepared to account to Kenyans for its performance ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Deputy President has maintained that investments in education, infrastructure, agriculture and housing would form part of the government’s development scorecard as it seeks a second term.
The construction of Karura Ka Nyungu TTI is expected to strengthen access to vocational training in Kabete while supporting efforts to develop a skilled workforce capable of meeting the needs of a growing economy.
Kindiki was accompanied by Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Kabete MP Githua Wamachukuru, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a, Kiambaa MP Njuguna Kawanjiku, Members of County Assembly, government officials, professionals and grassroots leaders.
