The government has assured Kenyans that an imported Ebola case remains isolated, following the death of the patient who was diagnosed with the disease.
In a Cabinet update issued on Friday, October 9, the government said it had strengthened surveillance and screening measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Health authorities are also carrying out contact tracing and preparing health facilities to respond to any possible cases.
The government urged Kenyans to remain calm, stay alert and follow official health advisories.
The announcement did not disclose the patient’s identity, the country of origin or where the case was detected.
Ebola is among the health threats that require close monitoring because of the risk of transmission and the need for a quick response when cases are identified.
The government said the case remained isolated, while enhanced surveillance and other preparedness measures were in place.
