Harambee Stars have set their sights on a historic milestone: qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, following the official announcement made on April 29 at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt.
The Starlets have long been recognized for their fighting spirit and they are among the 35 nations will take part in the African qualification series played over five rounds.
The Los Angeles Olympics, scheduled for July 11 to July 29 2028, will secure qualification to represent the continent at the women’s football tournament of the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Kenya will not feature in the opening round but will enter in the second round, where they will face Seychelles. The second-round matches are scheduled to take place between October 5 and October 13.
If Starlets beat Seychelles, they will face either Malawi or Zimbabwe in the third round, set for February 23 to March 6, 2027.
The fourth round, scheduled for October 4 to October 12, 2027 will pit winners from the third round face off against opponents from parallel fixtures.
The fifth and final round will be played between November 23 and December 4, 2027, where the remaining teams will compete for the two slots available at the Olympic Games.
The Starlets’ technical bench continues to build a squad that combines players with emerging talent, as Kenya is known for producing players in both domestic and foreign leagues.
